Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering

The State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering in Nizhny Novgorod (NNGASU), since its foundation in 1930, has been recognized as a leading academic and educational center in Russia specializing in construction and architecture, boasting over 50,000 graduates and students from more than 26 countries worldwide. This university has earned a distinguished reputation based on its strong academic and traditional roots in the field, acknowledged as a pioneering institution in this domain.

Higher education programs offered by the University include 19 first degree, 38 specialist-level, and 15 master’s degree curricula. Since 1930 more than 50 thousand specialists graduated from the university.
Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering is a major research center of the Volga basin in the field of architecture, urban development, construction science and
environmental engineering. It has a number of scientific schools well known in Russia and abroad. Postgraduate studies and research leading to the Ph.D degree (aspirantura) are offered in 31 subject areas and in 17 areas of the highest level research leading to the academic degree of D. Sc. (Doctor Nauk). There are three university academic councils conferring the degrees.

The University has been training foreign students at the International Students Centre since 1992. The
duration of the pre-university course is one academic year.

Presently, the University provides training for more than 160 foreign students from 20 countries worldwide. In the course of their studies they not only learn to speak Russian, have easy access to Internet and e-mail, but also get acquainted with Russian culture and traditions.

Non-local students are accommodated in comfortable double and triple rooms of the university’s hostel. The hostel has a cafe. Students are provided with rooms for 2-3 persons, each floor of the 4-storey hostel has a kitchen, WC and a shower room. To make foreign students’ stay more comfortable the option of placing two or three students from the same country is available.
